Eliminate concerns over unauthorized connections with available options and accessories.

Like any hazardous location rated device, MELTRIC hazardous location devices naturally provide protection against use that could spark an explosion.

  • MELTRIC Zone 1 rated DXN and DXA series are engineered to snuff out arcing from disconnection under load before it can reach a volume of gas that would pose an explosion hazard. Even if inadvertently disconnected under load, there is no explosion hazard.
  • Zone 2 devices have a screw locking pawl that requires users to back out the screw with an Allen wrench before being able to disconnect the device. This prevents accidental disconnections that could be made without proper thought and following of deenergization procedures.

In some applications it is beneficial to provide additional protection against unauthorized disconnection. MELTRIC makes it easy. All Zone 2 devices are equipped with a Padlock Pawl that can be used to pad-lock the plug and receptacle together in the connected position. This may be done directly with a 5/16” shank lock or with an available MELTRIC locking pin customer lock. The padlock pawl is also available on the DXN and DXA series devices as an option.
